Manga-Heaven is looking for a proofreader. This position is for a project that we are looking to pick up-- NOT for one of our current projects. Those wishing to work on one of our current projects, we are sorry, but we ask that you do not apply at this time.
The project we are looking to pick up may be considered scary to some people. If you don't like the thriller/horror/dark genre of manga, you may not wish to work on this project.
To apply, please respond to this thread. You can help us out by answering the following questions:
1.) Why do you want to join Manga-Heaven?
2.) Are you a native speaker of English? --- If no, what is your native language and how long have you studied English?
3.) How would you honestly describe your English level?
4.) Have you ever worked for a scanlation group? (or do you now?) --- If yes, which one(s)?
5) What M-H project are you applying for?
6) Will coming on to IRC to chat, get assigments, etc be a problem for you?
7.) Is there anything else you feel we should know about you?

1. I've wanted to join a scanlating group for a while now. I've enjoyed several of the mangas Manga-Heaven has scanlated, and I'd like to contribute.
2. My first language was Chinese, but I speak English best.
3. On a scale of one through ten, one being terrible and ten being excellent, I would rate myself an eight? Or nine? I've gotten straight As in English for my entire life, if that says anything.
4. I've never worked for any scanlating group before.
5. I'm applying for the project you need help on, seeing as you aren't hiring for any of your current projects...erm, this one?
6. No, I don't think it will.
7. I can speak and read Chinese semi-fluently, and I have a bit of knowledge about the Japanese language. I'm still a student, so I will be busy during some of the school year. You can give me as much work as you want in the summer, though. Pile it on, and I'll get it done.
I was wondering what manga you were planning to scanlate and how scary it is...I'm a bit of a wimp, but it depends on how bad it is. ^^;;
Thanks for reading this, and I hope to hear from you soon!

1.) I enjoy Manga, and would like to get more involved behind the scenes (that and reading manga slightly earlier sounds good) 2.) I'm British, but I can translate what you Americans say (and correct you if the manga is based in the UK(eg Wales for Mahou Sensei Negima)) 3.) Native speaker, so I'm alright I suppose. Seriously though I'm not too bad. 4.) Not yet :'-( 5) Any and everything you throw my way 6) No, not unless someone destroys the internet again... 7.) I've proof-checked training documents before for Europeans so I've know roughly what to do. That and I have a British sense of humour. Oh and I like Earl Grey tea EDIT: BTW 6) Will coming on to IRC to chat, get assigments, etc be a problem for you? Assignments is spelt assignments. Also for perfectionism points (worth five times less than fake points) 2.) Are you a native speaker of English? --- If no, what is your native language and how long have you studied English? If not, ... would have been a better way of writing this. That one however is neither here nor there.

Locking this for now. We have enough applications to consider for the time being.
