I am writing this post, and a matching trigger for it eventually, in response to the increased requests for our raws, either in channel, in private tells, or on this forum.
It is Manga-Heaven's policy NOT to release our raws. Now, before anyone thinks we're being not very nice people about this and hoarding it let me explain something.
The majority of our raws are puchased, cut, up and scanned by me, personally. I am getting no money for this, and I get little thanks for it, too. Thus, no one has any right to own these raws but me, and in truth no one really should own these raws but me, due to copyright laws. Yet, I scan them, translate them and the group edits them for the manga reading community. But what we turn out isn't exactly what the author wrote; it's our version in a different language, thus is the slight gray area that is scanlation.
No matter how politely you ask, if you don't take "no" for an answer, you are demanding that we hand you our raws. To ask for, let alone demand, is pretty much the same as coming into the channel or forum and slapping me in the face. It means you just don't give a crap about all the time, effort and even money that I and the rest of Manga-Heaven has put into our releases. I cannot tell you how angry this makes me. Expecially those who turn around and accuse me of hoarding a raw they have no right to. If you want the raws, purchase them with your own money.
People like this make me closer and closer to leaving the manga community as a translator. We don't demand feedback in exchange for our releases, but I can tell you that not getting much really does have a bad impact on me because that is essentially my pay as a translator, let me rephrase that. That is our pay as scanlators.
Thank you for reading this. I know the majority of you do not ask for our raws, and I appreciate that. Thanks to all who do support us for your continued support.
